Abstract

Tubular adenoma of the breast is said to be a rare benign breast entity that commonly occurs in younger women. In this paper, we experienced a case of tubular adenoma associated with a fibroadenoma in the same region of the breast. A 37-year-old woman was seen at the hospital because of a left breast mass. The mass, measuring 30×25mm was palpable in the AB area of the left breast. Ultrasonography revealed two mass lesions without any malignant signs. The first pathological diagnosis by an aspiration biopsy cytology was made as fibroadenoma, and resectional biopsy was performed. Pathologically, one tumor was diagnosed as fibroadenoma and the other tumor as tubular adenoma. Tubular adenoma is so rare that only 23 cases have been reported in the Japanese literature. Especially, this case is considered to be extremely uncommon because tubular adenoma and fibroadenoma co-existed in the same lesion of the breast.
