Abstract

SUMMARYA 39‐year‐old male presented with progressive lower limb weakness and “pins and needles” sensations in his buttocks for 1 year. On examination he had weakness and impaired sensation in both lower limbs, absent lower limb tendon reflexes and bilateral extensor plantar responses. Selective spinal arteriography revealed an extensive spinal arteriovenous malformation on the dorsal surface of the cord extending from the upper lumbar to the thoracic region with a feeder vessel at T12 vertebral level. We discuss the value of selective spinal arteriography in the diagnosis and management of a spinal arteriovenous malformation.
