Abstract

Laryngeal sarkoma is comparatively rare, I recently encountered in a man aged 49, a rounded swelling on the right ary-epigrottic fold, mammillated in shape, irregular on the surface, circumscribed with a distinct bundary and so large as to obliterate the lumen of the larynx almost completely. At the same time, some lymph nodes on the right side of the neck had also enlarged to the size of an pigeon's egg. Histological findings indicated it was a fibrosarcoma of the larynx. To the tumor was applied radon seed (15cm.) and radium (6420 mg. hr.), with a satisfactory result, that after a month's treatment the tumor nearly disappeared. The affected lymph nodes on the neck was removed completely by operation. The patient, now three months since the discharge, does not show any sign of recurrence, although, of course, it is rather too early to discuss on the ultimate result.
