Abstract

We experienced an operated a case of pedunculated lipoma of the duodenum. A 77-year-old woman underwent upper gastrointestinal series for anemia at another hospital and was found having a submucosal tumor of the duodenum. The patient was admitted to the hospital. CT scan showed a round lesion with fat density at the duodenum. T1 weighted and T2 weighted MRI showed a high intensity tumor 4×3×2cm in size at the 2nd portion of the duodenum, which seemed serial to the duodenaol wall. The tumor was shown a low intensity mass on fat controlled T1 weighted MRI. Under a diagnosis of peduculated lipoma at the 2nd portion of the in size, and histologically, a duodenal submucosal benign lipoma. According to the previous reports in Japan, there were 84 cases of duodenal lipoma, including our case. The characteristics, symptoms and treatment methods were discussed together with review of the literature.
