Abstract
Abstract Mycobacterium mageritense is a rare rapidly growing nontuberculous mycobacterium classified as a member of the Mycobacterium fortuitum group. It has been described in the literature in case reports as causing varied types of infections, primarily in patients with an identifiable predisposition such as direct inoculation or immunosuppression. Here we describe the first known case of this bacteria causing a laryngeal infection. The patient in this case did not have any identifiable exposures or immunosuppression leading to the infection.
