Abstract

A case of 64-year-old male, with recurrent episodes of supraventricular tachycardia and progressive congestive heart failure of unknown origin was presented and discussed.Markedly dilated heart showed diffuse irregular myocardial degeneration and fibrosis, without arteriosclerosis or valvular lesions, and patchy fibro-elastosis of the parietal endocardium at autopsy. The pathogenesis has been discussed and it was assumed that it might be a certain degenerative process of muscle fibres themselves.
