Abstract

Objective: To show the potential of endoscopic beating cardiac surgery in complex valve and atrial fibrillation (AF) cases in the hands of experienced teams. Methods: A descriptive video of the operative technique for a complex case. A patient with severe mitral valve incompetence, moderate tricuspid valve incompetence, atrial fibrillation and patent foramen oval. This patient was referred for consideration of surgery which was performed using the endoscopic beating technique as described in the video. The video represents a description of the procedure and a brief description of the results. Results: A few hours post surgery, patient was extubated. Patient was discharged on day 4 post surgery. Patient remained in sinus rhythm throughout the hospital stay. 3 months follow up showed competent valves in the transthoracic echo. ECG showed sinus rhythm. Patient’s performance status improved from NYHA 4 to NYHA 1. Conclusions: Endoscopic beating heart surgery can achieve excellent results in complex valves and AF surgery.
