Abstract

We experienced a case of early colonic cancer with Leser-Trelat sign. A 68-year-old woman was seen at the department of dermatology in this hospital because of lightbrown to black papulae with itching mainly in the neck and body trunk in April 1991. The patient was suspected of Leser-Trelat sign, but did not receive any treatments. In January 1993 she developed abdominal discomfort and was admitted to the department. A 4.5×4.0×4.0cm pedunculated polyp was detected in the sigmoid colon. Biopsy revealed that the tumor was colonic cancer. Partial sigmoidectomy was carried out. Histologically it was well differentiated adenocarcinoma of sm and n0. Biopsy findings of the skin suggested verruca senilis. After the operation verrucae decreased in number and itching sensation of the skin was imporved. In terms of early detection and early treatment of malignant tumors, this sign appears clinically significant.
