Abstract

Philometra americana n.sp., a dracunculoid nematode, appears to be common in several Pacific shallow water fishes; in Platichthys stellatus and Lepidopsetta bilineata in the dorsal and ventral fins or subcutaneously in the opercular region and gill cavity in Epigeichthys atropurpureus and Pholis ornatus always in the head region; and in Caularchus maeandricus in the lateral walls of the body.
