Abstract

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a debilitating chronic neuropathic pain condition that is thought to involve central mechanisms. This is a case report of a 31-year-old right-handed woman who met IASP criteria for CRPS of the right hand and arm after a surgical sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis. She had been unresponsive to outpatient management and was admitted for a 7 day in-patient stay with placement of a continuous local anesthetic infraclavicular catheter, aggressive physical therapy, and concurrent cognitive-behavioral therapy.
