Abstract

Abstract: Diaschisis is classically defined as an inhibition of func-tion produced by a focal disturbance in an anatomically intactportion of the brain, remote from the original seat of injury, butanatomically connected with it through fiber tracts. As describedduring thalamo-cortical diaschisis, this functional impairment couldlead to neurobehavioral and neuropsychological deficits. In contrast, cases of cortico-cerebellar diaschisis, which are the most reported,do not lead to significant motor features. We present a rare case ofcerebello-thalamo-cortical diaschisis demonstrated with F-18FDG PET, involving precentral cortex without clinical pyramidalsyndrome.
