Abstract

A case of apocrine carcinoma of the left breast (T1N0M0) in a 62-year-old Japanese female who was diagnosed by fine needle aspiration biopsy cytology (ABC) is reported herein. In a review of 50 cases of apocrine carcinoma of the breast seen in the Japanese literature, the following characteristics were drawn out: An average age was 57.7 years old; many cases were biopsied surgically because of its benign like physical findings, but would be able to be suggested by ABC; and rate of axillary lymph node metastasis was relatively low compared with that of usual type breast carcinomas, indicating a tendency to better prognosis.
