Abstract
A 56-year-old man with d-HCM was introduced to our hospital as heart transplant candidate. After registering to Japan Organ Transplant Network, we implanted implantable left ventricular assist device (LVAD, EVAHEART). He had a good course after surgery and discharged on POD 50. Three months later, he caught a cold and caused extreme shortness of breath. At admission to our hospital, his oxygen saturation was 84% with O2 inhalation and chest X-ray showed pulmonary edema and pleural effusion. We intubated and mechanically ventilated with sedation because of frequent coughing.
