Abstract

A cascaded temperature sensor based on few mode fiber (FMF) and Pagoda structure with five waist-enlarged tapers is proposed and prepared. The main structure of the sensor is composed of five waist-enlarged tapers. By controlling the discharge time, the diameter of the waist-enlarged taper is adjusted. The structure of waist-enlarged taper affects the temperature sensitivity. Five groups of Pagoda structures with the same spacing and increasing diameter are prepared. The experiment shows that the larger the diameter of Pagoda structure, the more mode coupling times in the fiber and the more high-order modes excited. The temperature experiment is carried out. With the increase of temperature in the range of 30∼90 °C, the transmission spectra of the five sensors shift to the long wavelength, the temperature sensitivity of the sensor can reach 77.96 pm/°C.
