Abstract

A carrier based pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme for elimination of common mode voltages (CMV) from the windings of a dual-inverter fed induction motor (IM) with open-end stator windings is presented in this paper. One of the main features of this PWM scheme is the prevention of flow of common-mode (CM) currents that facilitates use of single DC voltage source to power both inverters. This method is simpler compared to the conventional SVPWM techniques for dual inverter fed drives as it does not involve complex procedures like sector identification and dwell-time calculations. Validation of this scheme is done by extensive simulation and experiment on a laboratory proto-type.
