Abstract

The characterization of chemical compounds by the use of gas-liquid chromatography and infrared spectro-photometry has become an important research technique. In this method, the mixture is chromatographed, the pure fractions collected, and then identified by their infrared spectra. A difficult step in this technique is the collection of the micro amount of sample from the gas chromatograph and its transfer into a suitable cell for spectrophotometric study.
