Abstract

Anthomedusae of the family Calycopsidae are in general oceanic in distribution. The only species recorded from British waters isBythotiara murrayiGünther, reported from fairly deep water far offshore from the west and southwest coasts of Ireland. Its early stages have been unknown. A very young medusa caught at the surface in the Firth of Clyde has been reared through several stages, which are described and figured. It is considered to be a young B.murrayi.
