Abstract

We present a calculation of the decay of the photon to lowest order in the gravitational coupling constant. The decay is highly non-exponential, and in addition is characterized by a finite asymptotic survival probability. The results are sensitive to the choice of the photon form factor. Depending on how it behaves, one gets: (a) no visible effects (b) the possibility of performing the gravito-electric effect (c) astronomical intensity-frequency correlations, or (d) some combination of the above.
