Abstract

With the increasing wind power penetration level in the power system, the frequency problem is prominent. Therefore, accurate calculation of the wind power penetration limit is important to ensure the stable operation of the system frequency and guide the wind power planning. This paper proposes a calculation method of wind power penetration limit considering wind speed fluctuation and frequency constraint. Based on a low-order system frequency response model considering wind speed fluctuation, the proposed method adopts the idea of discretization to solve the wind power penetration limit under frequency constraint, which overcomes the difficulty of calculating the system frequency deviation caused by wind speed fluctuation. Finally, the accuracy of the proposed method is verified by MATLAB/Simulink simulation platform.
