Abstract

The frequency and temperature dependences of the a.c. conductivity in the rhombohedral Cr 2 S 3 single crystal have been measured. The real part of the observed a.c. conductivity is expressed as the sum of the frequency independent and dependent terms. The latter term has the form σ(ω)∝ω s , where s =0.90±0.10. This behavior supports the hopping conduction mechanism in the two dimensional system, the rhombohedral Cr 2 S 3 single crystal.
