Abstract

The body allows the recognition of the world, based on experience ranked according to their individual needs. Thus, these perceptions show diff erent perspectives on the use of body that are influenced by the media, aesthetics and the market attracted by an ideal of beauty. This essay aims to analyze and discuss the cultural phenomenon of beau ty on the aspects related to the construction of ma le and female body, showing that while women look for a lean body, men aspire to be more muscular.
