Abstract

The portrait is the work of Dr. Emil Seletz, distinguished also as a brain surgeon, and the alumni record their appreciation of his interest and generosity in donating his time, talent, and patience in creating a likeness which so satisfyingly represents the personality of Mrs. Muir. Mrs. Muir is a graduate of the Los Angeles County General Hospital School of Nursing and she was appointed to her present position of superintendent of nurses and principal of the school of nursing in 1917; prior to that time she had secured experience in private duty, district nursing, and in hospital administration. Mrs. Muir has been president of her alumni association and is now president of the Los Angeles Nurses' Club in which she holds a life membership. Long a loyal Red Cross nurse, she is a member of the local committee on Red Cross Nursing Service and the school enjoys the distinction of having more of its alumni enrolled in the Red
