Abstract

A broad-range magnetic spectrograph system for charged particle reaction analysis, utilizing nuclear track emulsion plates, has been built at the Florida State University Nuclear Research Laboratory. The magnetic spectrograph is a broad-range, high resolution instrument with an analysis range similar to that of a Browne-Buechner spectrograph. The system features speed and ease of operation without loss of precise relative alignment of slits, target, magnet and emulsion plates. Change of nuclear emulsion plates in the focal plane, angle change of the spectrograph and target interchange or rotation are accomplished in less than 5 min without breaking vaccum.
