Abstract
In this paper, a broadband solar antenna is proposed for base station at the center frequency of 2.4 GHz. Four solar cells with the size of 22 × 40 mm2 are integrated and acting as the main radiating structure. The solar antenna is excited by an L-shaped feeding probe for wideband performance. Simulation results show that the impedance matching bandwidth is 59.6% from 1.66 GHz to 3.08 GHz and the average antenna gain is ~8 dBi across the passband. These characteristics makes the proposed solar antenna promising for the wireless communications.
