Abstract

A broadband low-profile dual-circularly polarized (DCP) reflect-array (RA) for Ka-band application is proposed in this paper. The DCP RA is composed of a group of DCP RA cells designed based on dynamic phase and Berry phase. The functional layer of the DCP RA cells has only one anisotropic surface composed of double elliptical ring structure and arc-shaped microstrip lines, which is designed based on the multi resonance structure. The simulation results of the diffraction characteristics of the DCP RA cells show that the proposed DCP RA cells can independently control the phase of the left-handed circularly polarized (LHCP) and right-handed circularly polarized (RHCP) waves on the basis of the impedance bandwidth of about 65% (18.88 GHz ~ 37.08 GHz). Then a DCP RA is designed with 1013 cells. The reflection of the LHCP wave at Theta = -20° and the RHCP wave at Theta = 20° is implemented, respectively, the simulation results at 30 GHz are presented.
