Abstract

Based on the equivalent transmission line theory, a composite absorber with broadband planar array antenna and AFSS is designed. The first layer is an array antenna, which uses printed dipole with balun feed as basic unit. The second layer is a AFSS, in which the traditional resistive layer is replaced with a PIN diode array, which corresponded with antenna feeding units. The impedance match characteristic of the absorber can be adjusted by adjusting the bias current of the PIN diode array. And the reflection characteristic of the composite absorber can be improved by printed dipole antenna array. Simulated by electromagnetic simulation software HFSS and CST, the results show that the composite absorber reflection coefficient is below -10dB at 3.5-15GHz. The experimental result is in good agreement with simulation data.
