Abstract

Design of a broadband antenna at 11GHz based on quasi-Yagi antenna is presented. The proposed antenna has dipole driver, U-shaped ground reflector and director. Performance of the antenna, such as S 11 , radiation patterns and gain, are simulated and compared with the original quasi-Yagi antenna. As is presented in this paper, the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is from 7.98GHz to 13.84GHz, about 53%. Good directivity, low cross polarization level(lower than −20dB) and high gain(over 8.88dB at the center frequency) are achieved by optimizing the structure. Due to the simplified feed network and easy fabrication, the proposed antenna will have wide appilications in telecommunication.
