Abstract

The monopulse or simultaneous lobing technique was evolved as an improvement on sequential lobing methods like conical scanning and lobe switching. A target or a beacon signal can be tracked by measuring the difference in the amplitude or phase of a signal received by two antennas. Several types of monopulse systems have been used. A general theory under which these types can be studied has been enunciated. The present trend is to study monopulse systems by methods of communication theory.
