Abstract

A brief survey is made of calculations and measurements of decay heat for U235 and Pu239. Systematic differences exist between results from different laboratories, and between them and summation calculations. If the ratio of Pu239 to U235 decay heat is considered, most of these differences are removed, but there remains a discrepancy of about 8% between on the one hand results from two laboratories, and, on the other, results from one laboratory and summation calculations. Uncertainties large enough to allow for these discrepancies should be given to decay heat recommendations.
