Abstract

The object of this brief but interesting test is shown in the heading. It was carried on by T. S. Townsley, one of the senior students at Purdue University, as a thesis. The work was carried on with yearling Single Comb White Leghorn hens and cockerels in the month of April. They were selected upon their vitality and condition. The birds were confined to an open front house 10 x 14 feet and given ordinary care. They had been laying havily and were fed the regular Purdue ration. The males were confined in a coop 2 x 3 feet, during thee test. TEST OF VALUE OF ONE MATING In this test 20 hens laying infertile eggs were used with one cockerel that had not been mated for some time.
