Abstract

Climate change is one of the major problems of our day. In different areas of the earth, climate change causes different problems. On the European continent, according to observations, the dry and rainy periods have changed significantly. During rainy periods, the amount of water from the rain falling in a short period increased significantly. The authors' research focused on a smaller East-European area, Hungary. A significant part of damage events in Hungarian settlements is related to surface and underground waters and rainfall activity. The road network, the cellars and the gutters of municipalities are often subject to damage due to the inappropriate construction of the drainage system. The article analyzes the local effects of climate change based on the analysis of the weather data of the past years. The change in the number of rainy days and the amount of rain is evidence of a change in the weather. This work is an overview based on previous studies and statistical data showing the climatic impact in Hungary.
