Abstract

We present an unusual case of a suppurative breast abscess in an immunocompetent woman probably due to a Coccidioides species. Coccidioidomycosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of atypical abscesses, including those involving the breast, especially in cases of poor clinical response to antibiotics and/or among persons of certain ethnicities with exposure to an endemic area.
