Abstract

This paper presents a boundary element formulation for the solution of problems involving compressible plasticity in the presence of large strains and displacements. The BEM formulation is based on an identity developed by Chandra and Mukherjee 8−10 using an updated Lagrangian frame of reference. A suitable time marching scheme is used and numerical results are presented for various planar problems of compressible plasticity. Results from the current boundary element analysis are compared to results from a direct integration scheme.
