Abstract
Following her breast cancer diagnosis in 2004, Australian artist Marika Brand underwent an emotional rollercoaster of surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, which she likens to going to “hell and back”. Encouraged by her husband, she channelled her emotions into her paintings, and the results of her journey of artistic and personal discovery are currently on display at Blue Dog Gallery, in the bayside suburb of Beaumaris in Melbourne, Australia.
