Abstract
Low availability and reliability were common problems with boiler feed pumps 30 years ago. To address this problem, South African utility Eskom formed a partnering alliance with pump manufacturer Sulzer. Willem van der Westhuizen and Tony Cattaert of Eskom with Johan Cadle of Sulzer (SA) Pty Ltd discuss the background to the partnering agreement contract, its objectives and philosophy.
