Abstract

We designed, fabricated and studied a blue resonant cavity light emitting diode (centered at λ ≈︂ 480 nm) with an InGaN multiple quantum well active medium. The vertical cavity was formed by a dielectric Bragg mirror and a second reflector which utilized a combination of transparent electrode and metallic conductor thin films to facilitate lateral current spreading of holes into the recombination volume.
