Abstract

Rapid axonal regeneration and successful reinnervation of muscle and sensory end organs are the requisites for effective recovery from nerve lesions. Axonal regeneration has been reportedly accelerated by cerebral gangliosides and ACTH. We measured the rate of regeneration of sensory axons in rats after sciatic nerve crush by using the pinch test. We found no difference between rats treated with ACTH or gangliosides and the control group.
