Abstract
Once the tibial tunnel has been drilled for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, any further arthroscopic steps will lead to loss of irrigation fluid, both into the anteromedial soft tissues overlying the pes anserinus and onto the operating surgeon and theatre floor. One option would be to employ ‘dry arthroscopy’. However, this impairs the surgeon’ view, reduces bone cooling during drilling of the femoral tunnel and prevents the continual removal of bone swarf via joint irrigation.
