Abstract

This paper discusses a method for generating arbitrary curves directly. Arbitrary curves are first represented by piece-wise cubic splines. A simple ‘triple-add’ algorithm then draws the cubics by generating points incrementally along the curve. A bit-slice implementation of the triple-add algorithm is described. With its high speed, the bit-slice controller is expected to find use in applications involving two-dimensional real-time animation.
