Abstract

This work presents a biopotential signal acquisition amplifier with feedforward common-mode (CM) artifact cancellation function to tolerate large stimulation artifacts in closed-loop neural interface systems. Designed using 180 nm CMOS process, the proposed amplifier is able to withstand up to 1 Vpp of stimulation artifact while achieving 20 dB closed-loop gain, 3.09 <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mu$</tex> Vrms input referred noise, and noise efficiency factor of 1.87 over 10 kHz bandwidth. The total harmonic distortion for a 80-mVpp input at 1 kHz applied with 1-Vpp CM artifact at 900-Hz is -85.1 dB.
