Abstract
Antibiotics are powerful weapons against bacteria and the unique porous structure makes metal–organic frameworks be good choices for antibiotic delivery. In this work, metal–organic framework HKUST-1 with excellent biocompatibility was synthesized to entrap the antibacterial tetracycline hydrate (TCN) obtaining TCN@HKUST-1 system. The drug loading amount of the system was 54.90 wt%. TCN@HKUST-1 showed excellent antibacterial effects against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli due to the antibacterial Cu2+ and TCN, revealing utilizable potentiality in the field of antibacterial application.
