Abstract

A biologically inspired antenna system, based on the wasp's curved antennae, is presented. A stepped quarter-wave Chebyshev transformer was calculated to minimize the frequency-domain reflection and to maximize the power-transfer gain. The widths and separations of the coplanar strips were then computed to match the Chebyshev design, and smooth curves were fit to the computed steps. A portable transceiver, powered by batteries, was used, along with visual interface software, to automatically monitor the data transfer. A specific MAC address was assigned to verify the accuracy of the data.
