Abstract

A binuclear vanadium(V) complex {[VO(OCH3)C9H7ON3S2]2} was synthesized by reaction of VCl3 with 2-hydroxyacetophenone thiosemicarbazone (ONS ligand). The tridentate thiosemicarbazone did not utilize the thiolate or thione sulfur for coordination to vanadium, but rather employed the–NH2 moiety; a binuclear vanadium complex containing a tetrasulphido bridging ligand was formed. The title complex is monoclinic, space group P21/n.
