Abstract

The following text is excerpted from my performance diaries, and is substantially different from the previous one which appeared last year in The Drama Review. It chronicles social and cultural phenomena that shaped the consciousness and sensibility of my generation. I don't claim to have ‘the true story’. Like any writer, I chose to highlight certain facts which I considered paradigmatic. And, like my previous texts, this piece is recyclable. It is meant to appear in multiple formats throughout the year, including magazines, catalogues, newspapers and conferences in both Mexico and the US. I don't believe in copyrights. Ideas don't belong to institutions, but to the civilian population that generates them.
