Abstract

A new ternary zinc(II) coordination polymer [Zn2(bbmb)2(tdc)2]·2H2O (CP 1) 1,4-bis(benzimidazol-1-yl-methyl)benzene(bbmb), 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid (H2tdc) was hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis and powder X-ray diffraction. CP 1 is a 3D 4-connected sra framework with the symbol point of {42,63,8} which possesses high sensitivity and selectivity as luminescence sensor for detected of Hg2+ ions in aqueous solution. Moreover, CP 1 possesses high photocatalytic activities for decomposed methylene blue (MB) under UV light irradiation.
