Abstract

In this paper, a Bidirectional Resonant Two-switch Boosting Switched-capacitor Converter (Bi-RTBSC) with phase- shift modulation is proposed. Compared with the traditional Two- switch Boosting Switched-capacitor Converter (TBSC), all diodes are replaced by active switches and then phase-shift modulation is applied. As a result, the power can be transferred in either direction by changing the phase-shift angel. In contrast to the limited voltage regulation range of the traditional TBSC, the voltage gain of the proposed Bi-RTBSC can be regulated either below or above the nominal value, making it suitable for more applications, such as the automotive 48/12V system and battery charging/discharging system. In addition, all switches achieve the ZVS turn-on, reducing the switching loss significantly. The analyses of operation principle, output current expression and modulation map are given. A 100W prototype with low-voltage side 24V and high-voltage side 68-76V was designed and tested to verify the operation principle and voltage regulation capability.
