Abstract

ABSTRACT Creative Tourism is a recent tourist segment and an extension of Cultural Tourism. As this is a relatively recent concept that has gained prominence in recent years, the present research aims to understand the evolution of publications relating to Creative Tourism in the SCOPUS database. To that end, a bibliometric analysis was performed using qualitative and quantitative methods. In the SCOPUS database, 302 publications relating to this subject were analysed, from 2002 to 2022 (the longest period analysed until present), from which an in-depth analysis was carried out. The results of the investigation show that most publications are articles, with two books that stand out with more publications on the subject. Most publications relating to Creative Tourism and Development, are qualitative in nature, and use mainly secondary techniques and content analysis. After its first publication appearing in 2002, this segment emerged as a consistent topic in 2013, with a higher number of publications in the last ten years. However, there are publications that mention the concept of Creative Tourism, which, in fact, have nothing to do with this segment.
