Abstract

The peachtree borer, Sanninoidea exitiosa (Say), and the lesser peachtree borer, Synanthedon pictipes (Grote and Robinson), are important pests of peach in the southern United States. Feeding takes place in the host cambium and can result in the loss of scaffold limbs and ultimately tree mortality. Recent isolation, identification and synthesis of both these pests' sex pheromones (Tumlinson et al. 1974) has created a surge of lesser peachtree borer and peachtree borer research. To facilitate future studies, the following is a bibliography for these animals. References searched through December 1975 were the Agriculture Index, Biological Abstracts and Zoological Record. In addition each paper's literature section was searched for articles not found in published references.
