Abstract
This is a listing of translations and the more direct kinds of imitations, adaptations, parodies, etc., published from 1500 to the present.1 It adopts most of the conventions of The Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature, This means, for example, that original titles may be abbreviated and their capitalization and punctuation normalized; that after the first six issues of an item are recorded, further reprints are shown only if bibliographically significant; that place of publication is London except where stated. For the period from 1800 to the present, this listing routinely excludes translations intended for use in schools, as well as other prose translations unless of particular importance. Translations are in verse unless otherwise stated. The most wide-ranging modern selection from this material is Ovid in English, edited by Christopher Martin (Harmondsworth, 1998).
