Abstract

Marc Swadener is Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Colorado, where he also directs the graduate mathematics education program and is assistant director of the Undergraduate Pre-Service Teacher Education Program (UPSTEP), an NSFsupported project. He has published articles in several journals and is interested in mathematics education at all levels. The following is a compilation of literature in the field of mathematics education at the junior and community college levels. It can be said that there is very little available at the present time in this area and the references that are available are articles, periodicals, ERIC reports, and CUPM reports. In reporting the materials available, ten categories of classification were selected: CUPM materials; reports of new courses or new approaches; new programs; nontraditional courses; course outlines; reports of experiments; surveys of existing curricula; minority groups; discussions of ideas and opinions; and fringe articles. Some of the references appear under more than one of the classifications; many have been annotated; others have been included to lend completeness. It will be noticed that many of the references are from the TwoYear College Mathematics Journal. The numerous references to this journal and the relative recent advent of this publication illustrate the importance of having a journal of this nature. In each category the references are numbered and refer to the numbered bibliography at the end of this compilation.
